If you want to use your controller on online games (like cod) then try a program called Xpadder. I don't think it works 100% in many games but it is worth a shot. If enough people request it, I'll make a tutorial on how to use Xpadder.
If anyone needs help with this tutorial in particular, post a comment with the problem + your OS.

This is a quick tutorial that teaches anyone with windows XP (not sure if its compatible with any other OS) and a regular ps3 controller. If you need any help just post a comment under the video and ill get back to it.

SOLUTION TO PROBLEM: (UPDATED LINK!!!!!)
If your computer reads the controller but you cannot press anything/doesnt play any games do this:

go to that link. Download it and install it, and run the program.(when it comes up it should say driver is ok, click load driver)(when you click load driver nothing is suppose to pop up on screen so dont freak out). Then go back to your controller properties and test it out!!!! Use winrar or 7-zip to extract the files
