We all dream of a world where we all belong, where all people are embraced as children of God, where God's people put their faith into action in extraordinary ways. Come view this one hour PBS quality documentary on the history of Wesley United Methodist Church, founded in 1852 in downtown Minneapolis, whose journey of faith transformed the world around them. Hear the stories of Mary Clarke Nind, who in the 1800's raised over $17 million dollars towards mission; today's equivalent of over $350 million dollars; and of Dr. George Mecklenburg, whose program of Organized Unemployment kept 7,000 families off the welfare rolls during the Great Depression. And who could forget the fist fight that broke out in an adult Sunday School Church that resulted in the birth of one of Minnesota's current largest United Methodist congregations, or the famous race horse that was an envelope holding member of Wesley Church. In more recent times Wesley Church is known for being the first Reconciling Church in MN, and reaching out to people in need through the Saturday Meals Program.
From the foundation of the old Wesley, a new Wesley is emerging. Following the documentary you will hear of these future plans. All of these new initiatives take the past legacy created by the people of Wesley and propel it into the future to work towards a "World Where We All Belong."
