@IrSpock Thank you for that, I was amazed how quick it was, I was scared to look at first, but when I saw how quick it was, I couldn't think of a better way. I'm open to suggestions. I thought about seeking out a snake enthusiast. Would you like to be eaten alive by a snake? I don't think rat poison would be a pleasant way to die. They could lie injured for hours in a rat trap plus a rat trap could catch a native species your not actually targeting. Please suggest a better way. take care, bye.

I don't know if I'd consider drowning the most humane way of killing it. In fact, I'd consider it one of the worst. Think about it: Would you prefer to die by drowning? If you answer yes, you're probably a little crazy or really underestimate how much suffering would ensue as your body forces you to breathe the water repeatedly until you lost consciousness from oxygen deprivation, which I think would take longer than a few seconds, even for rats.
It nice to see that there are still some decent people out there. I know rats can be a problem for some people but not everyone will destroy them humanely. I have a number of pet rats and they are very intelligent animals and it's reassuring to see this video teaching people more humane ways to get rid of unwanted rats.

@tla86 Thank you for those comments, some people don't agree with us, but considering all types of deaths they suffer in the wild by predators, drowning's fairly quick, I was actually surprised how quick it was. have a nice Christmas, cheers

Goodman. I live trapped most of the rats in my yard (attracted by feeding my dog) so I felt responsible in a way (now feed inside) and I released them in an nearby field. Became overwelmed by numbers due to their smartness and avoiding my traps. Problem resolved itself when feral cats moved in. I fed them instead and the problem went away. Rats are an inteligent clever animal and deserve respect; as all life. Must admit they don't belong spoiling your food or health.

@CainusWatcher Thank you for that, yes, talk about intelligent, I've had one avoiding my trap lately. He must have moved on because I haven't seen any poo for a while. They're clever, & strong & agile. They can strip a whole cob of sweet corn in a night, even after I painted the outside with ghost chili. Their mouths must have been really on fire. Determination just kept them going. I'd release any native bush rats into the wild but not the feral introduced rats. anyway, cheers

i believe in reincarnation, a rat is probably the worst animal to become unless your lucky enough to be a well looked after pet rat.
rats die horribly in so many different ways, a lot like kenny from south park

@teedonster2 Thank you for that, I must admit, I don't share your belief, but if I did I'd certainly be inclined to agree with you.
