  • I attended with my family when I was eight years old .Our home,at the western edge of the district, was one of the dozen or so large houses that once stood among the Highland House Willoughby, and the Irene in Friendship Heights. Our family of 7 was squatting in a neighborhood where other abandoned houses were occupied by numerous groups of young hippies seeking shelter from the cold. Wooten Ave and Prospect Place.

  • I saw the parade. Protesters streamed along the streets north of Pennsylvania Avenue to try to confront farther along the route. I saw some in the crowd attack a lone policeman who just happened to be there (on Eye St, I think, near 14th). They had him down once, but he got up; he was fighting for his life and they might have killed him if other cops hadn't shown up within a minute. Some in the crowd were saying "Leave him alone!" but there were plenty who were still attacking him.

  • Stupid!

  • Ridiculous!
