Possibly the world's first cooking video, in (less than appetizing) two-strip Technicolor. Oscar nominee for Best Short Subject, 1933.

  • Yes, and Una Merkel as the wife and Luis Alberni as the chef-- all familiar faces from 30s and 40s movies. It's two-strip Technicolor, which tended toward the peach and aqua, although this example is pretty faded, there are much more colorful examples out on video.

  • Okay, now I am hungry!

  • This wasn't officially part of the "Pete Smith Specialties" series; this was actually an "Oddities" special, a title the studio often used at the time for "experimental" shorts involving color and other "unusual elements" involved.

  • I love Pete Smith's Specialties. I wish the's release these shorts on their own.

  • I just saw it on TCM. It's Coffee the Lion.
