From the wonderful BBC documentary, A Boy Among Polar Bears, this video clip shares Inuit ancient traditions. These include soapstone carving, handed down generation to generation as a way of keeping Inuit stories and survival techniques alive. Amazing free video clip from the BBC.

  • I wish every child in the U.S. would get the opportunity to learn the survival skills of our ancestors and the Native Indians. At least there is the scouting option, but even that doesn't reach enough our non-resourceful kids.

  • They wouldn't learn anything from these guys, they use snowmobiles, metal blades, modern cooking stoves..these people here are benefitting from modern convenience.

    Agreed. That's why on slow days like the day I'm having I look up videos just like these. Though not many people are interested these days, which I find saddening.
