  • Cool! I'll check Netflix.

  • On e more thing, I love you too especially for loving the gay community enough to speak out against discrimination.

  • If I do not speak out for those whom are being discriminated against now who will speak for me when I am?

  • Describing it to me with the mathmatics would not been much help. :)

  • no problem, i had to do some calculations along those lines quite recently, im studying physics. but that actually doesnt help much when it comes to describing it without mathematics ;)

  • Thanks man, I appreciate the well thought out response.

  • I stumbled across a show on the history channel the other day, that put forth a number of the hypotheses about the end of the dinosaurs. What I liked about it, is that it interwove these suppositions together into a coherent theory. I believe the show was called First Apocalypse. Very interesting stuff. It's available on DVD from their website, of you may be able to rent is somewhere.

  • Hey Rob. It 's sooooooo good to see you back on the tube, talking sense as usual on so many topics. It says a lot about you that you are still caring so much about the mistreatment of others when you are suffering yourself. Take care man and keep the videos coming - no danger of repeating yourself. Cheers. Jock

  • So glad to see you again, rkzenrage. Sorry to hear of your health issues, but happy you are here with us once again. And such smart opinions, as usual.

so, basically, yes, the planet could be flying in a different direction after the impact. but i dont think that the average distance between sun and earth would change considerably. maybe the shape of the orbit would change, but only from one of those shapes that naturally occur at regular intervals anyway to another one, disturbing an orbit is a bit like disturbing a guitar string. i wouldnt expect any drastic effects from that. volcanoes and tsunamis are a much bigger problem.

  • im not an expert...

but impacts like that dont necessarily affect the orbit. orbits naturally oscillate between a circular and an elliptic shape, and the average circumference is determined by the amount of energy in the system. if the meteorite or asteroid or whatever really effectively added or removed energy from the system depends on the angle of impact. it might knock the orbit from an elliptic into a circular shape or sth like that, but the effects wont be that drastic.
