Soundasaurus Multimedia Sound Arts Festival
EPCOR CENTRE's Engineered Air Theatre
Calgary, Alberta, Canada

New York artist Tristan Perich presents an electronic composition in five movements on a single microchip. Perich's work is inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics and code and his compositions have been described by The WIRE Magazine as "an austere meeting of electronic and organic." His award-winning work coupling 1-bit electronics with traditional forms in both music and visual art has been presented around the world, from Sonár and Ars Electronica to the Whitney Museum and bitforms gallery. This evening also features:

• Mexican artist Martha Riva Palacio Obón with electrostática (Antarctica), a sound piece that can be enjoyed during intermission. This piece explores the notion of creating simulated soundscapes by distorting and mixing one or more bits of sound.

• Lindsay Brandon, AKA Information Agent, will perform 12-15 consecutive sound works with video backdrop. Artist uses a loop station to recall recorded works and mix live vocals overtop. Brandon's new media works are contemporary forms that cross into theatre, acting and music.

• Edmonton artists Mark Templeton and Kyle Armstrong perform Extensions a live audiovisual performance based on Canadian visionary Marshall McLuhan (who would have been 101 in 2012) and his book Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man. Reel-to-reel tape and cassette machines live through the computer.
