#OWS Protesters March On The Brooklyn Bridge 700+ Arrested 10-1-11

Protesters started marching up the pedestrian walk way over the bridge while others tried to take the traffic lane. For a few minutes officers held the line and then they turned around and led the way up the traffic lane on the Brooklyn Bridge. From what I saw no police told any of the protesters to leave until they created a barricade in front of the march about halfway through the bridge. They then pulled vans and buses up to the back of the group and started arresting everyone.
In total over 700 people were arrested.

Wow...you can plainly see where the law enforcement set them up. Instead of guiding the people to the walk way for their safety, they led them into the street and on the bridge... where they wanted to go.

The cops in white, who seem to be calling the shots, are working as corporate security. Bloomberg needs to be held responsible for the overreach of this program.

I think this would have been more successful if they started jogging across the bridge, and didn't stop.

@shepheard16 I agree toss some tear gas in break up the crowd....if people are dumb enough to stand around and protest nothing they are dumb enough to get tear gassed

I hate it for the poor nypd and all law enforcement there I'm sorry to say this but if it was me if people got out of control they should be able to shoot them not with real bullets just with non lethal bullets don't you think

If these guys think the economy is so bad then why dont they try and get a job like everyone else....They arent getting no jobs blocking up roads and bridges if anything they might be causing some other people to lose their jobs because of some stupid fuckers blocked the roads.....What does that do? Just leaves more people with out jobs.Occupy movement is absolute shit. If they were to ever block me en route to work , i would have a few new bumper ornaments.

@socsparky7 Yeah, they were 1/3 of the way across and left a full lane of traffic until the police stopped them. They would have been totally off the bridge in 15-20 more minutes, instead the police stopped them and took over FOUR HOURS arresting them.
If you are at all angry about people being late for work ALL of your anger should be directed at the NYPD.
