#OWS Protesters March On The Brooklyn Bridge 700+ Arrested 10-1-11

Protesters started marching up the pedestrian walk way over the bridge while others tried to take the traffic lane. For a few minutes officers held the line and then they turned around and led the way up the traffic lane on the Brooklyn Bridge. From what I saw no police told any of the protesters to leave until they created a barricade in front of the march about halfway through the bridge. They then pulled vans and buses up to the back of the group and started arresting everyone.

In total over 700 people were arrested.

think of how many people couldn't get to their jobs!!!! you're not helping.... it's not YOUR bridge, it's everyones, and some people need that bridge to get home to their families..... selfish....ps u're wasting time and resources

Yeah, they were 1/3 of the way across and left a full lane of traffic until the police stopped them. They would have been totally off the bridge in 15-20 more minutes, instead the police stopped them and took over FOUR HOURS arresting them.

If you are at all angry about people being late for work ALL of your anger should be directed at the NYPD.

Wow...you can plainly see where the law enforcement set them up. Instead of guiding the people to the walk way for their safety, they led them into the street and on the bridge... where they wanted to go.

What the Police did here is called "kettling". They lead the people into a trap, into a pot/kettle and than arrest them.

OK, so of course no one wanted to start violence. Why were the officers picking certain people out of the crowd? Our system is so corrupt!

Blocking the road not a good idea. People may lose their marbels trying to go to work, and there may be a real emergency.
