The common language in the time of Jesus, Aramaic, is now so endangered the written version has become practically extinct.
Now the only place left in the world where it has remained virtually unchanged since biblical times is losing its Aramaic speakers, as people leave to find work elsewhere.

  • Did they say it was the world's oldest language? I think they mean oldest living language.....still I'm not sure it is. Greek, Vedic Sanskrit, and Chinese are all older.

  • @descentfromhistory It wouldn't be accurate to say Aramaic is the world's oldest language. But yes I would guess probably chinese is one of the oldest living languages !!!

  • i'm an Athiest i'm just intested in lreaning Aramaic becasue it's a beatiful language ;)
