This first lesson (of 5 ) shows you how to create a simple crane for the following four lessons on:how to use Parenting, the joint tool, Inverse Kinematics, control objects, Annotations, Point Constraints, Orient Constraints, limiting joint rotations, and parent constraints. The final video puts it all together in a demo on animating the crane to pick up and release an object.

Based on lesson 5, chapter 6 of Maya 7 by Alias.

  • Thank you, Tim. I've been a teacher in a secondary school for over 30 years working with every level of student, so I guess I've mastered the technique of sharing information. But I'll let you in on a little secret: I'm no Maya expert. I teach many types of software, so I know a little bit about too many things. Never had the chance to become an expert at any! Retirement is just around the corner and I hope to get better at some! Rusty

  • I just wanted to say, that your lessons are some of the best out there - You keep it simple, and informative.

I hope to see a lot more from you, or that you are starting to sell training dvds. That are Maya, Matchmover, compoiste and after effects/ photoshop related :)

    Tim
