Australia and gap years: I wish I'd known that

The A level results are almost out and the annual gap year exodus is set to be bigger than ever.
Taking time out before university has always been a popular choice, but a huge rise in applications to university to more than 600,000 means more than 130,000 applicants could be left without a place even after clearing, and for many a year abroad before trying again would be the ideal way to ease the disappointment.
If this time can be spent constructively in gap year employment it also enhances the prospect of getting a good university placement, and subsequently a good job.
Australia is one of the most popular choices for a gap year with one of the main reasons being the Working Holiday Visa. This allows Brits to work down under for a year, with the potential of staying for another 12 months. In fact, this year theres been a 21% rise in the number of WHVs granted to Brits.

what a big croc of shit! this is totally misleading the youth of Britain - getting work in oz is extremely hard, particularly if you're a uni graduate I know because I am here now I have 2 degrees and a boatload of admin experience and cannot get a job for love nor money because of this stupid 'working holiday visa' - believe me if the aussies find out you have one they aint interested at all.
