The major drawback of the Quasar was its weight. It has for example glassfibre of 6 mm thick! Keeping it upright at a stoplight was really hard labour.
More recent developments keep that drawback in mind while designing it.

AV Roe was ahead of his time, and he did all this while designing aircraft, what a genius.
Great idea, I wonder why it never caught on, there must have been drawback.
I believe Malcolm Newell died a few years ago.
The Quasar or Quazar still looks good 30 years after it was introduced.
