LIGHT AN ENERGY SAVING BULB WITH A BALLOON (How Flourescent Light Bulbs Work) SCIENCE EXPERIMENT
Crazy Chris shows you how to light an energy saving bulb with out even plugging it into a socket!
Objective: To understand how static electricity causes atoms to smack into each other to produce light in a flourescent light bulb.
Materials Needed:
- Energy Saving Light Bulb
- Balloon
Step 1) Blow the balloon up, tie it off & rub it on your hair or a woll sweater.
Step 2) Move the balloon back & forth near the energy saving bulb and watch it glow.
How It Works:
When you rub the balloon on your head or wool its builds up a negative charge. When you move the balloon back & forth near the light bulb, the negative charge pulls on the positive charge in the energy saving bulb. The negative charges in theenergy saving bulb are pushed away. As these charge move they slam into each other, which causes electrons to move higher in their cloud. When these electrons return to thier original spot they give off UV light. The phosphers on the bulb absorb the UV light & turn it into visable light we can see.

@derppp26 yes thats all you need, but it has to be one of those energy saving bulbs like you see in the video or it wont work. good luck with your science projcet heres hopeing you get an A+

I think this is a fantastic way to diminish the life of one of those expensive light bulbs.
