Opening of this Johnny Cash Show - 2x21 [Ep 53] - [Make A Joyful Noise] Special Guest Billy Graham & More [Feb. 24 '71] with Guest listing included. was the opening.
Back and white people could share some spaces not together and not the same toilet all seat on the back of the bus where reserved for black peoples or people of coulor later to become Afrio american and I believe if I am not mistake back to black . it is strange in music and on the street in my niebourhood they call themself the N word but I cant say it
@NineMuses4me .. ORLY? While I'm sure Johnny & his producers weren't racist, you can bet your bottom dollar the network people wanted to make sure the black folks and the white folks weren't mixed together...
To sphagnum2000 - likely not a racist decision but actually for practical reasons...if they were in front they would blend in with the dark suits of the others. This way they are actually seen better because of the lighter background of the studio set. I'm a visual artist/photographer, and I have photographed 'black' people. Technical considerations like this have to be made to bring the best out in your subject.
This was great. The guests are Mahalia Jackson, Stuart Hamblen, the Blackwood Brothers, the Edwin Hawkins Singers, the Oak Ridge Boys, the Staple Singers, the Carter Family including June and the Statler Brothers.
not the way back then
