***Hesitation is gone. Due to bad coil pack.

Finally got that whining sound out of my car but I still have this problem with the engine. Now it's even worse. I feel as if there's a huge loss of power while driving. I can't accelerate at all. The car starts to hesitate once I'd push the throttle. The check engine light is NOT even on. Everyone's telling me it's the catalytic converter that's clogged up. It's starting to smell like gas through the exhaust now.

I've changed the fuel filter already with no results. Spark plugs are from last year but I didn't put many miles on them. No vacuum leak that I know of. Transmission is fine. Alternator passed the electronical test. Some reason I'm thinking it's a fucking coil pack.

Does anyone know what this could be?

  • ignition wires....... my did the same + detonation ...once i change the wires and now is like a baby..........it would idle fine in p or n but it woul idle rough on d and it would hesitate till i reach 33 miles per hour + you feel preasure on de gas pedal...so change your ignition wires but first check them to see if they are ok......

  • @visigoth2020 Haha, I changed the spark plug wires when I changed out the coil pack that was bad.

  • rotten egg smell should accompany bad cat

  • @jayguy173 Actually the cat rusted off the exhaust pipe last week. I looked through it and it visibly looked just like new so I got it welded back up. The car is much quieter and there isn't a bad smell.

  • change pcv valve there cheap

  • @mallie1218 No one reads the solution anymore huh lol

  • Dont understand why no one has said eny thing about cleaning the fuel system from the injectors to the pump etc ??? Im a high perfomance engine builder and to me that could quit simply fix your problem

  • snds like an intake manifold gasket leak. prob won't set the check engine light off, but it will screw with the fuel delivery and the power and hesitation issue.

  • @Unclem360 It was a coil pack. They were a bitch to get to so hopefully the other two don't go bad anytime soon.

  • Sounds like bad plugs and ignition coils

  • Haha, problem was solved. Thanks.

  • stick a potato in each exhaust pipe, and if there is no difference, it's clogged.
