In Utopian Productions' "The Paw", Detective Clint Powers ("One Life to Live" fan favorite Nathaniel Marston) is on the hunt for the murderer of a wealthy collector whose prized piece, a mummified monkey's paw, has gone missing. Along the way he crosses paths with the collector's ravishing daughter (Allyn Bard), his much younger gold digging wife (Allegra McBane), and a rival collector with a mean streak ("The Sopranos" guest star Tony Ray Rossi). The short film also features appearances by legendary stunt coordinator Danny Aiello III and Tim Gallin.
Written and directed by Ritchie Steven Filippi, "The Paw" is a modern noir that is inspired by W.W. Jacobs' classic story, "The Monkey's Paw". The film has screened in various festivals including the Hofstra Film Festival, the GCC Independent Film Showcase, the LI International Film Expo, and Short Mondays in Hollywood. At the Hofstra Film Festival the film took home awards for Best Director (Ritchie Steven Filippi), Best Cinematography (Angel Acevedo) and Best Production Design.
"The Paw" had its New York City premiere on August 20th, 2005.
So professional. Really well done. I like how you captured a sort of by gone era of movies without specifically making it feel "noir". Getting tired of that look, but I really liked this film's style. Did you shoot on 16mm?

@Phaethon360 Thanks for watching and commenting! We did indeed shoot on 16mm. I love the look and feel of 16mm, and would shoot it any day of the week before digital if I had the chance.
