i shoot directly in the middle of the shoulder, because if im over 235 yards and it drops itll hit the heart, if im about 125 under, then itll hit the shoulder, making it immoble and if im dead on itll hit the lungs.
@Dahabsman what`s with that stupid comment? The best shot for almost any deer to moose sized animal is behind the front leg, hitting the lung/heart area. It will drop any animal and is the biggest hitting area. A headshot is wery risky because of the chance of hitting the jaw, wich will mak3e the deer to suffer a slow and painfull death!
@jkolmetz well he is talking sence, the best shot is on the shoulderblades hitting lungs and heart. It would drop any deer and is the biggest hit area. A headshot is not recommended because of the risk of hitting the jaw wich would make the deer suffer a long and painfull death.
The best place to shoot a deer with a rifle is about 4 inches ( about hand width ) below the back directly at the top of the shoulder blade. This will sever his spine while breaking the back . The deer will not even twitch . I prefer this shot becuse it is a forgiving shot . If you hit 6 inches lower or backwards you will still kill the deer except he will run 50 yards. When bow hunting discard any shot except a double lung shot. This is located 4 ribs behind the shoulder.

very risky on big deer as this gap between spine and organs could be big.
