not surprising. Back in the day you had to be able to SING AND DANCE just to get into hollywood. The Mrs. Robinson seduction scene is one of my all time favorites. It's right up there with the revival scene from The Abyss.

Anne Bancroft was a first choice to play Fanny Brice in the original Broadway production of FUNNY GIRL (as were Edie Gorme and Carol Burnett). Bancroft felt the songs were beyond her vocal capabilities. Eventually the role went to someone whose name escapes me at the moment ...
