Great job man! I just came home with a Memphis a guy was selling for $25. Cleaned it up, put on strings and aside from the volume knobs cutting out in places it sounds great so far. A little work and this will be a great guitar for practically nothing! And I don't even think you can get a Gibson these days with wood this heavy and dense.

@NextGreatGuitarist I should do that do. I dont really play this guitar alot, at the time I had a set of acoustic strings on this guitar, a friend of mine put them on because it was what he had laying around. I replaced the acoustic strings with electric, and soon after that changed the electric strings out and put acoustic 13's on it. I have a schecter that I play more often.

@minorkatminor About the tuners, I got my Memphis (80's model) used, and the tuners were replaced. I don't know what type they are because they are unmarked, but the guitar stays in tune like a dream, even in temperature change. I've also replaced the bridge with a Dimarzio SD, and my neck p'up will be next, with a '57 classic. The SD was the best thing I've done to that guitar.

@minorkatminor i would in a heartbeat if i hadnt wasted my money on parts for my own.
You know, after ten years or so, wiring goes to hell quickly.

I have 2 memphis les pauls from the 70s and these are the better models because they have set necks instead of bolt on. I took mine and put a bone nut in it with 6100 frets and some lindy fralin 8k/9ks and its now a perfect guitar. I'm saving up for a burny though. Many 70s les paul knock offs. Burny, Greco, Tokai, Memphis, Ibanez etc, each with diff flaws and strengths. I'd say burny / greco are the top ones and if u take a set neck memphis and do a shit load of work to it its decent.
Awsome technique man!!! I got a memphis too and it sounds terrific!!!
