NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Liberty 55616) Not to be confused with the Carla Thomas hit, this 1964 release originally recorded in 1958 by Bob & Earl is a different tune with the same title and is one of two singles issued by Miss Gloria Jean Hargis on Liberty Records under the name of Vik E. Lee. She also recorded four singles as lead singer of The Victorians also issued on Liberty. She recorde one single as Gloria Melbourne on A&M and on her last single she was once again joined with The Blossoms as The Gonger-Snaps on Dunhill. All of these discs were recorded at Hollywood's legendary Gold Star Studio with Gloria on lead and The Blossoms on background vocals. On all of these Phil Spector sounding tracks, Marty Cooper was the producer and Perry Botkin, Jr. was the arranger with exception to the A-side of the last Victorians single and the Gloria Melbourne disc which were arranged by David Gates. The Ginger-Snaps disc was recorded at Western Recorders and produced by Phil Sloan and Steve Barri.

  • I can`t believe that every song you post is amazing! I`m enjoying this so much! It`s all new music to me! Thanks again!

  • @bluesforU2 You're entirely welcome, Diane. This one is a long lost, dreamy slow-grind dance number. I can just imagine hearing it 46 years ago in a dimly lit high school gymnasium with crepe paper decorations and teen boys in their continental suits and teen girls in their puffy prom dresses and gloves slow dancing to this.

  • Been going through your older posts and found this. Great rendition of Bob & Earl's 1958 original. How on earth do you find this stuff? And the info that you furnish is, well, top notch. Keep up the good work!
