  • Total rubbish - would you buy a second hand house that might have broken one of these light bulbs on the carpet and let your baby crawl around in mercury. Man is not changing the climate - and if you continue to think so we are all going to very poor with the extra taxes. Just wait and see. Anyway if we all used these the power company would soon start charging you more as there profits will fall. Go and do your own research and check it out with an unbiased head on. I dare you!!!!!!!!!

  • Anything florescent contains mercury. In 5 to 7 years when these bulbs go bad they will be dumped somewhere to leech mercury into the EArth and ground water, which you will drink at some point. Florescent is energy efficient but not green.

  • but these are good lights, people should buy them because they are cheaper and last longer and make sense.....the climage change slant is crap. the climate is ALWAYS changing, wanna fight climate change? go fight the sun

  • brainwash those kids into little climate brown shirts.......this is about eugenics and a global control grid. Hope you good intentioned greenies like slavery.

  • Just to clarify:

In Ontario they're trying to mandate these (by now they may have succeeded), and I find most fluorescents hurt my eyes. Whatever my reasons, it's my money and it should be my choice.

Also, True-white LEDs have been showing promise, and would be superior to these fluorescents if they ever come out of development.

The laws are what I was arguing against, not the substance of this video.

  • Reread my comment: I think they're the cat's pajamas. Given the choice, I'd choose them over regular light bulbs any day.

All I'm saying is don't legislate - don't put a gun to my head and say I *have* to buy them. You yourself just listed a number of reasons why I should buy them, and that's great - *talk* to me, convince me, but don't try to force me.

  • Dude they last longer, it's cheaper and better economy, man, saves money both because it takes longer before you need to replace them, and it lowers your energy bill, it's a win win scenario, I have no idea why you'd wanna "save" like twenty pence to loose out more in the long run, it's just stupid.

  • I agree that they're a wonderful invention - one long due - but I don't think I should be forced to purchase them by law.

The lowered cost should be incentive enough. But if it's two days till payday, and my light goes ought, why shouldn't I buy an incandescent that'll be cheaper in the short term?

    Uh, great video, though!

  • Bravo! Encore, Encore.
