While they still have petals on them, I like to remmove some of the seeds to form a smiley face on them (two spots for eyes and a curved line for a smile). Just silly and fun.

this is just awesome. i didnt know they grew like that. how long of a warm season does it require to fully grow? id be interested in trying to grow some at my house next season.

Great getting the kids involved, Donna. I'm wondering if the seeds would come out better if u scraped them with a spoon? That way you could scrape them really hard and they would pop out better and you would not have to use gloves. Just a thought. Those look good to eat, though..I think I would eat them rather than give them to the birds, LOL.

Cant wait to grow mine next year! I have some dwarf and mammouth russian sunflowers.Also what kind of knife is that you have? Your kids are adorable, cant believe how much the youngest has grown!

@Rezist01 Ok..you got me at "cold winter night...roasted" I can smell them now!. The next batch is going into food storage for a snowy night this January.....:) :)
