A $10,000 Reward Offered In Murder Of Philadelphia Teen

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― A reward is now being offered in the case of a murdered teenage girl whose body was found in Northeast Philadelphia last spring.

The teen's mother is pleading for help in finding who killed her only child.

"I'm still not all together yet, to think that someone threw here there with no regard for her life, nothing," said the victim's mother Janice Collins.

Ericka Brair, 18, was a senior at Frankford High School. Her body was found this past April inside an industrial park near Roosevelt Boulevard and Woodhaven Road.

Her body was discovered about a month after being left there in mid-March. She had been stabbed to death.

"There were approximately 40 stab wounds to the body, and there were some defensive wounds as well, I think it was a crime of passion because of the amount of stab wounds that she had," said Det. Ken Rossiter.

When asked if she could think of anyone who would want to harm her daughter, Ericka's mother said, "No everybody loved her, that's why I don't understand, everybody loved her."

But Ericka's mother said her daughter was starting to hang out with the wrong crowd.

"I'm the only voice she's got left," said Janice.

Detectives are now following up on every lead.

"We have some people calling her repeatedly after midnight at her house," said Det. Rossiter.

"We just have to find out who did this and they have to pay for what they did and we need justice for Ericka, that's what we need," said Janice.

Detectives believe more than one person was involved in the murder because Ericka's body was carried into the woods.

Ericka's two cell phones and identification were never found.

The Citizens Crime Commission is offering the reward.
