what do you mean dont have the means for tanning? there are always resourses for tanning... look around you for oak trees, the acorns are loaded with tanic acid, just boil the acorn meat, first boil of any variety of black/red oak is pure tanning medium. just soak the skins in it, and when you remove all the bitterness from the acorn meat, it makes a great seasoning for rabbit, squirrel, dear, etc... also makes great bread. Just thank your local Natives for that wonderfull information :)

if you dont like brown than just brain tan it as sugested earlyer lol!
