  • Random shot of the heat gun would be fine ... search for a high point and low point is misleading. Unscientific to say the least. At what expense? Hyping a service? Marketing a product? This should be left to professionals and data should be laboratory and field tested. Can you say Ralph Williams ... used car sales!

  • All in all any radiant barrier you use will reflect radiant heat. Keep in mind some products have less maintenance through out the years.

  • i've installed both the paint and radiant foil and i have to say the the paint is alot easier but the foil is alot better. if it is my house i would use the foil barrier. another thing you have to consider is it cost effective in the northeast, where its only hot 3 months out of the year. if you can get the radiant foil barrier for a good price. you'll get your money back.

  • HOw COLD WAS THE SPRAY?

  • These guys have clearly never had a class in heat transfer. Don't bother trying to get much benefit out of this method.

  • that was funny because the points measures were not compared, it was like waving around the sensor hoping to find the highest lowest temps. then he got annoyed that the unpainted bit was only 3 higher so he pointed the sensor at the apex where the air is trapped in between 2 joists and it read 123. that is where all the warm air rises too. major fail and major dodgy test!!!

  • I have done many experiments in my attic to reduce its temperature. If they would have sprayed the paint on the TOP of the roof, it would be much more effective. The readings they got are errored because it's like aiming at a MIRROR to measure its temperature. Should use actual temp PROBE on the surface for more accuracy. The temperature of a metal roof in the sun should be close to 190 degrees not 110. I am sure these men are well-intentioned, but confused. I encourage them to try my ideas.

  • He said Wednesday but his watch says Tue....hmmmmm

  • @sk8outlaw Yes the foil works better, but if you are a licensed energy auditor, your goal is usually ROI. Paint usually provides a better ROI than foil, because of the initial cost. You and I both sell paint more than foil, yet sell both, for that exact reason, labor is usually the biggest cost, and paint can be 1/10 the labor on some homes. Here, my foil pricing makes people cringe, cause they had a buddy, or a competitor of mine, that just hired some illegals to staple it up for 10$/hour.

  • This video is typical of the "energy experts" armed with a hand held digital infra red thermometer.

Unless one fully understands emissivity it would be futile to comprehend anything this video offers in the way of explaining what is really happening here. First off, none of the values being read on the gun are accurate since the emissivity on this unit cannot be calibrated and is factory set an assumed emissivity of .95. The lower the emissivity of the surface, the lower it's going to read
