From Their 1977 Album Ultravox!.

Lyrics:

Fat guy jets by, bony in a Zodiac
Picking up trouble, maybe looking for a heart attack
All-night boys in the Piccadilly arcade
Boozy losers cruise tricks trawling for some rough trade

Satday night
Satday night
Satday night in the city of the dead
Can you feel the time bomb ticking in your head?
Too many memories are buried in your bed
Satday night in the city of the dead

Stand in the dole queue, face like a statue
Laugh like a maniac, walk like a king too
Spike hair, don't care, Oxfam outlaw
Rat band rips it out, you're buzzing like a chainsaw

Satday night
Satday night
Satday night in the city of the dead
Can you feel the time bomb ticking in your head?
Too many memories are buried in your bed
Satday night in the city of the dead

High-rise reptile sucking on a cigarette
Ripped suit, zip boots, dancing like an insect
Tottenham Court Road litter skitters in the wind
The city's pretty dead but the night's still alive

Satday night
Satday night
Satday night in the city of the dead
Can you feel the time bomb ticking in your head?
Too many memories are waiting in your bed
Satday night in the city of the dead

Satday night
Satday night
Satday night
Satday night in the city of the dead

  • geez...besides bowie do you think maybe richard butler of psyche furs was listening to these guys.....hnnn..i think yes.........together with howard devoto and magazine , ultravox, first line-up, were the best of the bands to come from the post-punk era....inho, of course....i like wire and gaang of four too!

  • @TheDrkrayne i hope you're implying dead kennedys are the immitators here

  • Foxx ..... Lyrical genuis!

  • Definitely @mortegi ...! The verse is like Subterranean Homesick Blues (Or whatever the title by Dylan and one that REM ..paid hommage to in THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT......Speaking of age as you were... me being close enough in age to you......... had to discover that Dylan classic at an archeological site ;)

  • @mortegi I'm older than you- John Foxx was a bl***y genius squared
