Delegates cast their votes at the Democratic National Convention in
Denver on Aug. 27, 2008 -- an evening that saw the first nomination for
president of an African-American by a major U.S. political party. In the
midst of the roll call, Sen. Barack Obama was given the nomination by
unanimous agreement after his former opponent, Sen. Hillary Rodham
