Historic Interview by British Politician Tony Benn with Saddam Hussein. In an attempt to avert the upcomming War Tony Benn asks the questions raised by the UK and the USA. Saddams answers to the questions are VERY intriguing and it is no surpise that this interview was all but buried as the rush to war gathered Momentum.

Tony Benn's attempt to avert the War ultimately failed as was to become clear that the desire for War was inevitable. The day after this interview Colin Powell went to the UN and lied through his teeth but convinced the World of the need for War. Powell now says his speech was a BLOT on his reputation!

@dan11009 you my friend is completely mistaken. saddam did nothing for his 'people'. systematic genocide and subordination of the kurdish population as well as terrible treatment of the shiah arabs in the south. I was born and brought up in sulaymani, northern iraq. we were not allowed to speak kurdish in schools, three uncles disappeared without a trace and I spent the winter of 1991 in the moutains after the uprising. saddam was sent to his death by the iraqi people.

We were buddies with him in the 80's when he fought Iran,we gave him chemical weapons.What we should have done was gave him some military hardware and turned him loose on Iran.We could have had all the oil we ever wanted. Iraq is now a puppet for Iran.

Might have been more interesting if Benn had asked Saddam "what military weapons have you bought from which countries over the years?"

"To which countries, or companies thereof, has your administration sold oil to over the years and been given back-handers for"? Would have been very interesting indeed to know the answers to those questions. Probably a good part of the reason why the guy got hung, instead of being made to talk and imprisoned.

that was west and america proper gender , iraq had no WMDs AND THEY NEW IT THAT IRAQ HAD NO WMDs AT ALL ,BECAUSE UN SENT INVESTIGATION TEAM IN 1993 TILL 2001 TO LOOK FOR WMDS , THEY DID NOT FIND ANY INSTEAD THAT THEY DRAW MAP OF IRAQ CORNER BY CORNER TO ACCESS EASER , THEY HAD TO ATTACK IRAQ BECAUSE OIL
