It's about Donald Duck wanting to fly and Pete "cheats" Donald into believing that he is taking the duck for a flight. When Donald realizes that it was a "trick" into getting him to be a sky trooper and refuses to bulge, Pete decides to "kick" Donald out of the plane.

  • dont point out all the flaws in this video with the text bubbles...animation is very hard and you cant get everything right all the time. Disney was a genius no matter what!

  • i thought it is a free world to say what i want to say or what i needed to say. and it is human nature to point out flaws and mistakes, but i do not mean any disrespect to the animator or cartoonist, cos' i am a video animation lecturer. and in my class, i usually use this cartoon as a sample for my students not to make these kinda mistakes in their future working life.

besides, if you don't like the "flaw bubbles", you do know that you can off them, right?

  • You know, it's funny. Donald wants to join the Air Force, gets drafted into the Army, and somehow winds up in the Navy. weird...

  • whoa..........major brain freeze..... i bet i would have never thought of this till i die until you mention this. great observation. good job. maybe donald join the navy cos he is afraid of flying.

  • @damacon No. Its not a free world buddy. Whoever told you that is a blowing smoke in your face.

  • why peal the potatoes.? the skin is good for you too

  • This has to be my favourite of the Donald Duck war cartoons. It has so many funny moments in it, especially when Donald sticks the plane tail into Pete's bottom and when he gets scared to parachute jump out of the plane.

  • @MDthornton83 i completely agree...i'm am a huge disney fan. all i mean is that there are so few flaws considering the time period. world war 2 was such a hard time for disney animation that it is just amazing to me how awesome the cartoons that came out of it were...just goes to show walt disney's dedication. i wish it were still that way

  • @storfy33 Actually, I find the flaws in this animation to be less apparent and visible than the flawed American animation of the 90s. In fact, I've always looked up to Disney cartoons as a great source of inspiration.

  • @MDthornton83 oh and if my disney history is correct, this was at a time when the company practically had no money to make great animation, so flaws were to be expected. but somehow they still turned out great material. just awesome :)

  • @MDthornton83 amen to that! :)

  • @storfy33 That's right. Besides, Disney's animation is pure gold. It's timeless. Compared to what's out there today, this is way ahead of its time.

  • @JStryker47 "BIGSHOT" I finaly figured it out.

  • The two planes in a dive (at 0:40 - 0:42) are the colorful but obsolete Douglas TBD Devastator torpedo bombers. State of the art when introduced in 1937, obsolete by the beginning of the war, completely wiped out by the Battle of Midway, and completely retired by 1944.
