  • That's just during the war too. Just think how many died when we left Saigon.

  • US never lost a major engagement above a 1000 troops. It was the homefront that broke, not the troops.

  • are you familiar with "the managment of savagery", the book technically thought to be partly responsible for the administrative end of al qaeda's beleif system>??

  • @GodlessMartyr666 Our Secretary of State has assured us all WMD stocks in Libya are being monitored closely. Exactly what that means I don't know, but they better have their act together.

  • its also worth mentioning elements of french GIGN and british SAS commandos are on the ground right now directing rebels, as well as CIA agents to ensure afformentioned yellowcake was secure... We're livin' in some dangerous times man.

  • @gerry301 I couldn't agree with that more, but the rebels are supposed to technically be the "good guys"... While their commanders are trying to retain a PR image, the kids are joining in droves JUST to fight on either side... I worry most about un guarded stocks of sarin and chlorine gas munitions... Not to mention yellowcake uranium by the tonne....

  • @GodlessMartyr666 Whats happening in Libya is one group of thugs against another group of thugs, these, mostly illiterate, mostly untrained, 'fighters' are having the time of their lives yelling aluha akbar and firing their weapons in the air. You can be sure there are more than a few among them who are enjoying the killing just for the thrill. Add raping and looting to the menu and it will be difficult for some to stop.

  • @gerry301 well I kinda assumed... what with all the you tellin me the charles manson soldier was probably a fraud and all. Obviously today the US army is quite different but then again there are always third world shit holes... in some ways today its worse, just, elsewhere...

  • @GodlessMartyr666 The opposite is true. Discipline and training are key. Any misfit will have to deal with his team leader, squad leader, platoon sgt, Lt, and company Captain. These are not given ranks, but earned through training (classroom, leadership training, as well as testing and approval). I never heard of convicts being in the US army, nor has their been a draft for the last 40 years. If you wish to talk about the 'Vietnam era' its another story.

  • @gerry301 think about it though, how many of those guys were on edge, young at the time and aggressive anyway... 19 year old kids will abuse the power regardless of what sort of trauma they go through in the shit, but it certainly doesn't help or slow down the problem... Obviously the more time spent in country, especially for convicts and draftees, would put some of them over the edge. when you have mobs of them roaming around with armalite pattern rifles during the soviet era... shit go FUBAR

  • @GodlessMartyr666 "When 'troops' commit systematic and widespread cdrimes against civilians, that is a crime against humanity". I couldn't agree more. As for Lybia I have read about crimes beining committed by both sides. Executions of prisoners or innocents Etc. I have no arguement with what you are saying. I do not deny it. PTSD is 'post' after the tramatic experience, not during. Fear is the greatest emotion felt during battle, horror of its consequences causes PTSD.
