You are not truly done with an oil change until you have properly recycled your used motor oil and oil filter. Used oil does not belong in storm drains, on the ground or in the trash. Used oil can contain heavy metals and other toxic substances. You should put your used oil in a clean container with a tight fitting cap or lid. The used oil filter can be stored in a leak-proof plastic bag or other suitable container. Used oil and oil filters can be recycled for free at most auto parts stores and many service centers.
