unfortunately, I haven't had chance to watch any of the new shooting stars episodes.
But I've been told on numerous occasions by friends that the new guest is a rip-off of Kinky John.

He's got the lip thing and glasses but I don't think his character is very similar; he doesn't slip up with his words, he's not american and he's not overly arrogant like kinky john. I can see what you mean though :p
