This simple saw is designed to solve the perennial problems of naval modelers when cutting the planks for a model.
It is built entirely of metal. As it can be seen in the photographs there have been used leftover plates and angles from other buildings. Marriages are made with an electric welding machine which can be replaced with little bending sheet metal parts wit and using some screws.
All parts are mobile and the cutting table can be raised and lowed.
The turning shaft is mounted with two bearings. Use a saw / drill to make clean cuts.
In this case an electric drill was attached in order to give speed and strength to the cut. You might also use a motor connected to the axis or using belt pulleys, but the drill is completely functional.
Using a circular saw blade, you can also cut plastic, fiber, aluminum, plywood and ply (thin). Sizes are not given since they depend on the parts to get the bearings and the type of drill to use.
In the video you can appreciate the benefits of this home-made tool.

  • It's capable of cutting thin ply. I don't think you can cut steel

No crees tu?

  • @rohenwi

  • please tell m how did you make it please

  • this is so great nice work

  • I really like that. I tried a small unit from Harbor Freight tools, total junk.

I make my own inlay banding, and it's made of many very thin strips of wood and other small pieces glued together making a band with geometric patterns. The problem is many times you create more waste with a full size saw than useable material, and as well it's not the safest. This would really be a huge help, I really appreciate you sharing it with me. If I make one, I will post as well.

    Thanks, real nice work!

  • likes it.

  • if it is capable of cutting steel ill make one
