Super Genius Valley Fair Amusement Park Blog

Visited Valley Fair amusement park in Shakopee, MN after being bummed out a few weeks earlier when visiting the graveyard of Six Flags Astroworld. I ride and review the rides there as well as smuggle my camera onto the roller coasters.

Interesting note, only hours after I filmed the Wild Thing video, the back car became disconnected from the rest of the train as it was nearing the station and beginning to brake at the end of the ride. A mounting bracket supporting brakes on the track had malfunctioned, damaging the rear axle of the 5th car. This caused the 6th car to break free from the train, derail, and tip over into a fence adjacent to the roller coaster, injuring 18 people. 14 of these were taken to nearby St. Francis Medical Center, but all injuries were minor and all were treated and released. The Wild Thing reopened on June 1, after a number of inspections and tests cleared it as safe to ride again.

The reason they got through parking is because they said that they don't have any cash. They were sent to guest services to get a parking ticket. What most people don't know is that they don't bother to check if every car has a ticket. Motorcyclers are just supposed to keep it on them. It doesn't matter.

i used to live in MN and i moved to a different state...but i went back and visited and my friend and i went to VF when the renegade came out and the line took 2 hours long!!! but it was worth it!

Not the most exciting vid, but my comments on Valley as I live close by are this: Renegade is the new BEST rollercoaster at VF, it fuggin' kicks ass. Wild Thing is still a great coaster, it's high and fast, Excaliber SUCKS. After a kid broke his arm from hitting the structure on it they put brakes on the first decent and it only made the ride worse. Now instead of the coaster being fast and jerky, it's slow and jerky, so it's crappy.
