@anupadhikari9 i alway though nepal culture is similar to indian but it actually more asian than indian, and some nepal ethnic group look very much like asian
@GuardianDemonX because these structures are called pagoda style structures which was started by malla kings of nepal some hundred years ago.... the style was later flourished in whole asia sorry for bad english
@buckinsand absolutely agree with you, this is quiet compared to my visit in 2009. Had a lovely lunch on a rooftop restaurant above the square and saw some insane traffic carnage in the square. I miss Kathmandu, such a beautiful, crazy, noisy, wonderful city.
What a difference a few years makes. Just came back from Nepal a day or two ago and the number of people in and around Dunbar Square had to be triple or quadruple what I see here from 2006. Even witnessed a traffic jam / grid lock AND there were NO CARS .. all bicycles, motorcycles and pedestrians. Kathmandu has doubled in population since 2006.
Many people in the world consider Siddhartha Gautama as the greatest Guru in the world. Siddhartha Gautama before he became Buddha or the enlightened one was born in about 563 BCE in Lumbini, Nepal. He was born into King Suddhodana Gautama and his queen Mayadevi, rulers of the Shakya tribe of Kapilavastu region near Lumbini.
During the rule of 7th Kirat King Jitedasti, Lord Gautama Buddha with his disciples came to the Kathmandu valley, Nepal to preach dharma.

They've placed traffic restrictions in Durbar Square. I was there in Feb 2011. Only vehicles were military, and then there were not many.
