Ronald Reagan's California successor follows in his footsteps in supporting a fairness issue, just as Reagan did when the far right petitioned to remove all teachers who were gay from public schools. Not so long ago in 1978 too. Scary that is how they think, but there you go. Truth wins.

Arnold Schwarzenegger sounds like he's working with the powers that be to make sure same sex couples can retain their right to marry that was summarily stripped from them by Prop 8

Hope this moves forward. Republicans need to figure out that Americans are tried of having government in their bedrooms and deciding if they can marry the adult of their choice, be they of a different race, same race, different color, same color, different sex, same sex and so on.

The GOP has continued to develop 18 million cracks in its base and more moderate members are going to succeed in winning the hearts and minds of today's Americans.

Issues are important and separation of church and state matter or else we are going to end up fighting over 'which religion' is highest on the totem pole and has the most influence.

Our Constitution was designed to prevent this even as the conservative religious right try to undo it all because they claim a higher power endorses their plan.

Case in point: Sarah Palin and her godspeak about how she governs.

Time for America to return to its values - and they are values that are valid for ALL Americans, not just those with certain religious beliefs. Hopefully Barack Obama can take this country back for Americans and turn the economy that George Bush has ruined around. It will take a tremendous amount of good leadership, which we have been lacking lately, but which is in good supply in this new administration.

  • @cleanhomer I agree!! Equality rules!!

  • Way to go, New York! California, get Prop 8 overturned, buddies!

  • He has got to work on that accent, I mean, come on, I speak German waaaaaay better than he speaks English. Oh, yeah, civil rights are great.

  • Go Arnold! marriage equality is now a reality,,, I bet he´s really happy he went down on the right side of history!

  • My respect for Arnold is increasing.

Even if he isn't 100% comfortable with it and isn't gay himself, he still supports the repeal of Prop 8 because it is the right thing to do.

Reminds me a lot of Eisenhower, and when he had to come to a decision when faced with Brown v. Board. Yes, he was a racist man, but came out and said it was right to allow blacks into white schools, and even though he didn't like it, he'd enforce it.

That's a good man, protecting people's rights with no personal gain.

  • The 8 people who gave this video a thumbs down must have a lot of money. LOL They frown upon people saying George Bush ruined the economy. He was helping them stay rich and get richer while America was getting poorer.

  • Having gays kids is not a bad thing!

I WAS BORN GAY, GAY PEOPLE ARE BORN NOT JUST GAY LATER! I most of your points tho!

  • yes. We love the idea of democracy, and it has it's place. However, we cannot be a country of "mob rule", where no rights are protected so long as the "majority" wants to gang up.

First, we must remain the republic as we were formed. Individual rights must be protected, and this means we tolerate many things we might not agree with. So long as one's actions are not infringing on anyone else's rights, then they MUST be free to do as they wish!

  • How is voting to take away somebodies human rights even possible in this century? Could I start up a proposition 9 to bring back slavery? How about prop 10 to take away a womans right to vote?

  • Governor Schwarzenegger is a Republican and I'm a Democrat but he seems to run California in the middle and especally on the social issues. He's a good American and people should be able to love and honor until death do us part gay or straight. But I also believe in the will of the people. This is not over, we will be back as Arnold said and they will try again to vote No on Prop 8 and win.
