  • It's like a "kihon" . An exercise .

  • Mutudi yohonmei. The 4th of 5. They are mutudi exercises, but as Rabbitfish said, they are kata in general respects. We do not consider them in the same realm of karate kata, though.

  • That is an exercize of Motobu Udundi. For all practical purposes it is indeed, a kata. There are several of these but, depending on the particular Dojo, they do not serve in the same capacity as kata does in , say, a karate Dojo.

  • Nice vid. Some questions:

The first part, what kata is that? From which school this kata came from? They say Motobu Udundi does not have kata, and Motobu-Ryu Kenpo is almost only Naihanchi.

  • Tekki is a variance of this... the name was changed from Naihanchi to Tekki when Okinawan Karate was introduced to the mainland. Just in case you didn't know the history of karate... Cheers

  • last kata looks like tekki, interesting variances...

  • very nice to see this. thks for posting. good old style karate not seen too much in the US, unless you train with Iha or someone like that.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this video. I am so glad to see Motobu's yakusuoku kumite which I have only seen in books, and his version of Naihanchi 1 and 2. I am delighted. Thank you very much.
