To celebrate the centennial of the great Mahalia Jackson, a surprising and genuine New Orleans gospel group will be performing in Ascona, led by Mrs Betty Lastie Williams, typical gospel singer, heir to a rich tradition, who rarely performs on a festival's stage. Ms. Williams is also the mother of New Orleans acclaimed drummer Herlin Riley (winner of the Ascona Jazz Award 2010), who will be accompanying her in Ascona, together with bassist George French, and first-rate singer, pianist and extraordinary live performer Davell Crawford.
