I think Capcom made a sequel to street fighter because they saw Tupac and Omar playing it on the movie Juice. Thats my opinion I may be wrong.

The people of the time actually liked it. I mean it got a sequel so it couldn't have been completely hated then.

Nowadays, people try and play it like it is SFII, see their fireballs and dragon punches not come out and QQ. To this day, people still don't understand that using specials in SFI was

press and hold button->do control motion->release button instead of the established

do motion->press button of SFII and beyond.

Seemed pretty fun and entertaining to me. Only setback was the controls, and how the computer had delays after you did a move or got hit/dishing out a hit.

I like the first one better because of the shuffling movement, there's more ground fighting and less jumping through the air with lame jump kicks

If you were going to the arcade for single player fighting action you'd be playing Ninja Gaiden, Shinobi, or Bad Dudes among others long before you'd waste a quarter on Street Fighter.
