@EricArceneaux Us Creoles are the same no matter what. We are Creoles, no race can define us because we are mixed with all of them!

Born and raised in New Orleans and my family is creole also, but we idenify as black.
New Orleans is a diverse city. I think because were from nola were used to seeing people with a combination of features, skintone, eye colors and hair types that its not an issue. It wasnt until after Katrina when I moved up north that people started questioning my ethincity.

my mother's ancestors are basically from every european country, and my father and his family are completely Nigerian (only have married Nigerians too) and so i am poly-racial, i guess. =)

I can totally relate. People never fail to ask racial questions when it comes to my mother and I, especially since we're in a different state. Seeing your family reminds me of how much I miss being home in N.O with mine.

What did I hear around 5:35?! is it really ture that you have to mark your race on governmental forms? this really seems insane to me! i'm kinda shocked.. no one would ever think about something like that here where i live (switzerland). i really have the feeling that this race thing is such a big/overrated and unnessecary issue in the states! we're all HUMANS, who cares about the race?!! much love to you Eric

About the Phillipino thing. Im a quarter phillipino (the rest black) and my dad is half (Phillipino and Black) and you look EXACTLY like him when he was younger. Its hella crazy!.. But it makes sense for people to ask you about being phillipino. FYI.

Yeah, but it doesn't really bother me anymore. I don't feel defined by my race, though I am proud of my culture; I love being "Black", and I love being "Creole". How true can race really be anyway, when so many people mistake me for different ethnicities? In fact, just got a new comment today on my profile... Someone asked me if I was "Habesha". I had to look it up. lol. I didn't even know what Habesha meant.
