i had that same noise with my r32 and it was the "throw out bearing" i drove it to work and back without driving crazy for about 500 miles and it went away,but the same day i raced it that noise came back..i got it fixed for $300 bucks

@nizzex Well, I didn't find out definitively what it was. I swapped out the ECT sensor and the thermostat, though, and I haven't heard it since. That was back in March. So I can only assume that it was related to that. haha
