Diana Damrau sings Donna Anna's aria from Don Giovanni from her newest recorded album, 'Donna'. If anyone has clips from her live performance on stage, that would be great!!!!

  • hmmm... i wish she'd give a little bit more umph in the allerghetto part... it seems..i dunno... this is one aria where i dont connect with damrau. i usually love her in everything..

bu a vast improvement from that Mozart Donna recording of non mi dir... that conductor needs to be shot

  • haha i agree with you about the conductor...however, this is the Mozart Donna recording :p

  • I would like to attract your attention to Edda Moser then - especially as Donna Anna...

  • I agree with raymzi about the lack of power towards the end. (Sutherland is a good indication of what I think is missing here.) I found Damrau's singing in Zauberflöte as good as any, but this doesn't seem to be up to that standard here. (Maybe there are subtle beauties that I'm missing because I don't know enough about singing, so feel free to alert me to them).

  • @gahualli i think it is a period orchestra so might be at original pitch,

  • Is there a pitch problem with the upload file????... it sounds in E mayor instead than F mayor... I don't think she would sing it a half step down...

  • one of the best recordings of this aria!

  • why??

  • @silvr94 OMG, you are SO right! Edda Moser's Donna Anna is definitive, it's as if Mozart had written the part with her unique combination of vocal gifts and unsurpassed musicality in mind. A MUST listen!

  • I saw Damrau... as Marie.. and it would appear on the face of it, a perfect role for her.. and it was only .. pretty good.. she was not outstanding.! Small voice. But lovely in many ways... but small.

  • This is not a soprano leggero Part.

  • keine Donna Anna
