I remember watching this warm up match and really thinking we had a great chance of winning the world cup that year. We thought we had world class players in all positions. Don't believe the hype!

It was a very even contest, as most Argentina v England matches have been. I thought Riquelme had a briliiant match & Argentina had the chance to go 3-1 up halfway thru 2nd half, but then Pekerman made 3 horrendous changes. He took off Riquelme who had dominated midfield, he took off Ayala who had kept Owen out of the game & he took off Crespo who had caused the 2 England central defenders to defend deep in their own goal. After that England proved that football is a 90 minutes game & won 3-2.

This was the friendly in Geneva before 04. I remeber watching this at a pub in Hoboken Nj 1/2 the bar English 1/2 the Argentine. What a exicting nerve wracking game. I was doing tequila shots at noon to calm my nerves. Even though we lost in injury time still a great game. My favorites though were 86 and 98
