Lorry overtakes cyclist a bit close for comfort then gets stuck in traffic. Sequel to this film "Lorry gives cyclist space" shows how this should be done (youtube.com/watch?v=0qen0UrHnHM)

  • The painted line, which marks out the cycle lane actually gives motorists a false sense of security and distance.

  • @abermin Yes. I think it would be better to remove the 'cycle lane in the gutter' and replace with a solid white line to indicate 'no stopping'. Cyclists would then feel more confident to occupy the one and only lane without being squeezed into an inadequate space. The cycle lane on this road is an afterthought - a bad one. The road wasn't laid out with this use in mind.

  • @HaroldTheGerbil not true: the cyclist in the video actually pays road fund licenses for 2 motor vehicles but chooses to cycle and leave the car at home much of the time. In any case, the road is shared space for everyone regardless of whether so called road tax is paid. We all pay for roads through general taxation.

  • at no point did the lorry enter your cycle lane. if you want to complain, speak to the council about making 'your' lane wider. the only person at fault here is the impatient cyclist trying to undertake a lorry in it's blind spot on a roundabout.

why even bother posting rubbish this on youtube? pathetic.

  • @JagermeisterDetox I totally agree, stupid laws saying it's illegal to ride on the pavement are just idiotic and should be ignored. The lorry did get a bit close but then the road seems quite narrow anyway. Also, the cyclist seems to be one of the better cyclists out there looking out for peds etc. I think they must be a motorist too.

  • Nothing wrong with the truck, he made good progress, he didn't encroach in the lane, he didn't make contact with you. In fact it looks to me from the helmet cam position that you are positioned too far to the right for a narrow road like that. As far as being stuck in traffic at the roundabout is concerned, so what? he has traffic behind him and he has a responsibility not to be a rolling road block and get on with it. It's camera toting, moaning idiots like you that give cyclists a bad name.

  • i don't see anything wrong. he passed a slower road user at the speed limit and didn't hit said road user. He's just driving. I say fuck the cycle lane. get on the fucking pavement.

  • @mailpauljonescouk the cyclists have their own lane here, so they dont slow regular traffic

drivers asume you have your own lane and you will stay there, not swerve across solid white line into cars lane, just because some people are near road edge.

The lorry is within his own lane, thats all he has to do, you stay in your lane and no problem. The size of difference between you and the lorry makes it feel closer and generate wind force that pushes you

  • Paranoid cyclist, as you all are. Self opinionated, arrogant, aggressive morons who believe that they have the right to critique other road users practices and behaviour. You will NEVER catch me giving way to a damn cyclist

  • @mailpauljonescouk 'so called road tax' - you are an idiot! it does what it says on the tin you plonker... where do you think the money for building and maintaining roads comes from?! Cyclists add significantly to urban road wear by forcing other legitimate road users to break and swerve unnecessarily.

If cyclists want cycle lanes (and even as a non cyclist I believe they should have them) then they should pay for them! Cycle tax on any road bike?

  • Self inflicted stubborn stupidity. Backed up by likes vs dislikes.

  • if you dont feel save using that route, change it... but stop posting rubbish vids

  • Better than going head on into traffic or driving over you.
