For what was the last game I went to in the season, it was a nice idea to sit in the Scout Seats for the first time. Free food throughout the game, great seats, excellent game; it was almost the perfect day.

1: Designated hitter Scott Podsednik leads off the bottom of the 1st with a single.
2: After a walk to Jayson Nix and a sac-bunt by AJ Pierzynski, Paul Konerko singles in two as the Sox of White draw first blood.
3: Mark Kotsay would walk, and Chris Getz would single in Konerko for the third run of the inning. 3-0.
4-6: Gavin Floyd strikes out Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz, and Jason Bay in order in the 2nd.
7: With two outs in the 3rd, Nick Green tries to bunt for the first hit, but Gavin gets there quick enough and Paulie makes a nice pick to end the inning.
8: Here's the comedic relief. Pierzynski tries to steal second after a walk but is thrown out. Ozzie Guillen comes out to argue, but changes his mind and heads back to the dugout.
9: Youk tries to break up perfection in the 5th, but Kotsay ranges to make a nice play.
10-11: Ortiz and Bay strike out again.
12: Mike Lowell led off the 6th with a chopper up the middle. Alexei Ramirez makes the sparkling play to keep Gavin perfect. However...
13: With two outs, Nick Green singles for the first hit. But the shutout would be intact for a few more innings.
14: Kotsay answers the hit with a homerun to make it 4-0.
15: Victor Martinez doubles with an out in the 7th, but
16: Youk would ground out, and
17: Ortiz would get the hat trick to end the threat.
18: On the first pitch in the 8th, Bay homers to right, giving the Red Sox their first run. 4-1.
19: Lowell would strike out for the first out, giving Gavin his 10th.
20: Pinch hitter Casey Kotchman strikes out for Gavin's last out and 11th strike out.
21: Paulie would answer the Bay homerun by homering off the left field foul pole on a pitch by Hideki Okajima.
22: Bobby Jenks seals the deal, retiring Youk for the final out.

Final Score: 5-1 Chi Sox
White Sox record for 2009 games I went to: 11-7

  • Why did the white sox copy off of the red sox?im a SF Giants fan but i i always wondered why the got the same name but differrent color........

  • Well first there were actually the White Stockings and Red Stocking. The White Stockings became the Cubs, oddly enough, and the White Sox took the nickname then became the White Sox in 1901. The Red Sox became the Red Sox in 1901 as well, so it's not really a copy... but it is definitely an interesting idea haha.

  • i call it the laundry series

  • That's all it is. Red socks are what you get if you stick something red in the white laundry.

  • So White Sox Beat the Red Sox And u got the best seats In the game.what i would say is if you sat in the other side you would get the ball hit by any homeruns if ur lucky. but i say this seat is great cuz u get a good view of the players

  • To be honest, I just like going to games. It was a crazy cool experience to sit that close, but I like sitting away from the net. Home run seats are cool (I would've caught a ball once but I was looking through my video camera and couldn't react fast enough).
