Typhoon Meranti Hits Fujian Province, China

Typhoon Meranti made landfall in China's southeastern province of Fujian early on Friday.

It is the tenth typhoon to hit China this year.

Strong winds and heavy rain lashed Shishi City when the storm hit the area early Friday morning.

There are no official reports of casualties.

Authorities are concerned about more extreme weather after floods and landslides across the country this summer killed more than 3,000 people and left more than 1,000 missing.
