Sufism/Tasawwuf is the foundation of Islam - the spirit of Islam.

This video is an introduction to the history, practices, and beliefs within Sufi Islam. Sufism, or Tasawwuf, is practiced by many Muslims around the world, both Shia and Sunni, as a mystical or esoteric path to God.

The video includes poetry by Maulana Rumi and Ibn Arabi - may Allah swa bless their souls, and Mawlevi whirling dervish performances.

instead of fully embracing the central message of Islam, namely that of unconditional surrender to the will of God and the truth of God, many Muslims created a mixture of the true teachings of Islam and their warring culture. Thereby, as also happened to the early Christian church and especially through the formation of the Roman Catholic Church, the culture of a warring people became imposed upon the true teachings of Islam.

How can islam be the truth, when wars happen?

Wahabbis place more emphasis on outward actions more than inner intentions of the heart. All prayers and worships will be thrown in the faces of such people who pray one minute and in his heart has plans to kill innocents...sufis focus more on cleansing of heart and than actions have together have acceptance from god.

Sufism is very similar to Kabbalah. And you'll find it very easy to adjust to the teachings of Kabbalah which stemmed from our prophet Abraham/Ibrahim.

One thing I found strange is that they said we are still "Sunni" or "Shia". I find that strange because in Sufism the only thing that exists is believer or the non-believer. All else is irrelevant. The believer is one who goes forth with love in their heart and the non-believer, one who does not. To submit to the will of Allah, is to submit to love.
