Robin Robertson is my favorite vegan cookbook author, I'd be totally lost without her "Vegan Fire & Spice" book.

I think I'm a little late to this video. lol
I just discovered seitan this year (been a vegetarian 6 years), and this recipe looks great.

This video (and you) are awesome! I have been searching for a while now on the interwebz for a good "turkey" recipe for a jumping off point to make my vegetarian sister and I a pretend "turkey" for thanksgiving, and I think this recipe is just the ticket!!
Does anyone know if you have to roll the seitan out to cook it? If I were to shape it into a turkey-blob, would it still cook..?

@tarapotamus Thanks! If you cooked this in a solid "blob," I don't think it would do as well. It would probably need a longer cooking time, and might dry out too much on the outside. Rubbing it with oil and wrapping it in foil helps to keep it moist. I have had it get a little dry, but I think that's because the oven I was using was hotter that I'm used to. Using an oven thermometer or turning the temperature down a little might help, especially if you're going for a solid 'turkey.'

@tarapotamus Also, if you do try that, let me know how it goes.

@gormanls Glad to hear it! I'll probably be making this for Thanksgiving again this year.

Somebody likes Monty Python. :)
Incidentally, have any nonmeat-eaters had this, and if so, what was the response?

I made it for my family for Thanksgiving. My family includes both vegetarians and meat eaters. The reaction seemed to be positive from all of them. They may have just been polite, being family, but the roast disappeared pretty quickly.
