For me the best time for rail fanning is at dusk when no ones around and the only thing you hear is the rumble of 4 CSX GP40s approaching the diamond at 4am in the morning.

Today we catch CSX B725 arriving just on time at 4:50am, he slows down, then slowly proceeds across the diamond at Walpole in the morning rain. Although B725 's consist was short today he had 10-15 glycerin tank cars, 2 reefers(electronic door was left open), 10-20 scrap metal gondolas/trash filled high gondolas, a few empty wood cars and several boxcars.

I deiced to stay and catch him in Walpole today because every time i try to race B725 to Medfield he either beats me, or travels so slow within the 4 mile distance between the Walpole Diamond and the Rt 109 crossing that i leave or sometimes i swear the train disappears like a ghost...

Anyways enjoy the video.
